Description

Osteothai is the integration of Thai Massage & Osteopathic principles during a Thai massage, a bridge between East and West. It combines the extraordinary power, creativity of Thai techniques, with the precision, and softness of osteopathic principals of touch. Osteothai combines: Traditional Thai massage varied using powerful stretches, using long leverage techniques across muscle groups (inspired by yoga postures) and its acupressure work on energy lines and the creativity of dynamic movements of traditional Thai massage. Osteothai Principals of touch: less is more, go slow, quality of touch are 3 main principals. The main principle applied focuses on the 3 body realities, 1, structural, musculoskeletal 2. fascia and cranial sacral system with respect to the Thai (sen) energy lines, 3. Energetic, releasing tissue tension and works on restriction of mobility, also has a calming and grounding aƯect to the individual. Osteothai focuses on working with the vitality present to bring balance back for self-correction. Osteothai is practiced on the floor, but can also be adapted to the table, the client wears light comfortable clothing, and the massage therapist uses not only their hands but also, knees, feet and elbows, much like a traditional Thai massage.  

 

Bio:

Kelly's interest in Thai Yoga Massage was immediate and profound. Within a few months of experiencing her first session, she embarked on an international journey to immerse herself in the practices of Thai healing arts.

Her unique approach to Thai Yoga Massage combines various styles inspired by her studies at the Costa Rica School and the Integral Touch Institute in Thailand and Indonesia. In 2016, she met David Lutt, a teacher, co-founder, and author of Osteothai. This meeting brought together two disciplines that merge Eastern and Western modalities by incorporating osteopathic techniques into Thai Yoga practices.

In 2019, she began her master's program in Osteothai under the mentorship of David Lutt and Jörg Schürp. She is recognized as the first American to complete a Master's in Osteothai and has been teaching both domestically and internationally for 15 years. Kelly shares her passion for this practice in a holistic, culturally rich, and playful way. She has a private practice in Knoxville, TN, specializing in Thai Yoga and OsteoThai.
